This course is designed for the entry-level electricians or experienced instrumentation mechanics who needs to understand the basics of industrial motor control. With a focus upon OSHA compliance, the student will be introduced to industrial motor controls with the understanding that the individual must be a qualified person to be able to work on the equipment. With that in mind the person will learn about the construction, operation, and how to avoid the hazards associated with electric motor controls.

Prerequisites: A working knowledge of basic AC and DC electricity (Ohm’s Law, Watt’s Law, and Kirchhoff’s current and voltage laws, and Lenz’s Law).

This 4-hour lecture course is designed to provide a review of proper industrial design practices related to Variable Frequency Drives and AC Induction.
