Advanced Industrial Process Control

Scope
This course is intended for entry-level instrumentation mechanics or experienced electricians who need to understand the concepts of advanced industrial process control. Many modern industrial process control systems go beyond the basics of process control presented in Introduction to Industrial Process Control. This course will present such topics as Cascade, Ratio and Dead Time Control as well as Feedforward and Multivariable Control. Advanced Industrial Process Control is one of three courses developed to assist the individual to have the knowledge necessary to pass the International Society for Measurement and Control’s (ISA) Certified Control System Technicians Exam (CCST).

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Introduction to Industrial Process Measurement and Introduction to Industrial Process Control or its equivalent.

Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of the course the participant should be able to:

  • Set up the various advanced process controllers, input the proper parameters, and tune those controllers given related control system information and a software process controller.
  • Troubleshoot various advanced process control applications given a software based controller detailed industrial control descriptions.
